Kiyomizu-dera Temple｜清水寺
Kiyomizu-dera is one of Kyoto’s most famous temples.
Its name comes from the pure water flowing from Mount Otowa.
The temple is especially known for its large wooden stage,
but beyond the beautiful scenery,
there is also a long history of prayer and worship.
清水寺は、
京都を代表する有名なお寺のひとつ。
名前の由来は、
音羽山から流れる「清らかな水」。
大きな舞台の景色が有名ですが、
景色だけではなく、
長い祈りの歴史が続いている場所でもあります🌿

Niōmon Gate｜仁王門
The large vermilion gate at the entrance
is called the Niōmon Gate.
It marks the boundary
between the everyday world
and the sacred temple grounds.
入口にある大きな朱色の門が、
仁王門（におうもん）。
日常の空間と、
お寺の空間を分ける
境界のような存在です。
門の左右には、
仁王像が立っています。

Three-Storied Pagoda｜三重塔
The three-storied pagoda
rises high above the temple grounds.
It is one of the tallest pagodas in Kyoto

三重塔（さんじゅうのとう）。
京都の中でも大きな塔のひとつで、
遠くからでも見える存在感があります。

Main Hall｜本堂
The Main Hall is the heart of Kiyomizu-dera.
Inside is enshrined
the Eleven-Faced Thousand-Armed Kannon.
本堂（ほんどう）は、
清水寺の中心となる場所。
中には、
十一面千手観音菩薩が祀られています。
景色が有名なお寺ですが、
もともとは
祈りの場所。
手を合わせる空気が、
今も静かに残っています。

大きな木の柱で支えられていて、
山の斜面に沿って建てられています。
京都の景色を、
静かに見渡せる場所としても知られています。

Special Night Viewing｜夜間特別拝観
During spring, summer, and autumn,
special night illuminations are sometimes held.
The atmosphere becomes quieter and more dreamlike
than during the daytime.

夜間特別拝観が行われることもあります。
ライトアップされた舞台や本堂は、
昼間とはまた違う雰囲気。

At the base of the Main Hall
flows Otowa Waterfall.
The water splits into three streams,
and many visitors stop here quietly.
本堂の下には、
音羽の滝があります。
水は三つに分かれて流れていて、
たくさんの人が静かに立ち寄る場所。
「清水寺」という名前の由来になった水でもあります。

Zuigudō Hall｜随求堂
Zuigudō is known for
“Tainai Meguri,”

随求堂（ずいぐどう）は、
「胎内めぐり」で知られる場所。
真っ暗な空間を、
数珠の綱をたどりながら歩いていきます。
外の景色を見る場所というより、
自分の内側と向き合うような、
静かな空間です。

極楽浄土に思いを重ねていたとも言われています。
