Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of more than 30,000 Inari shrines across Japan.
Founded in 711, it is one of Kyoto’s most famous shrines and welcomes millions of visitors every year.
The shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the deity of prosperity, agriculture, and business success.
Today, it remains one of the most visited shrines in Japan.
伏見稲荷大社は全国約3万社ある稲荷神社の総本宮です。
711年創建と伝えられ、
京都を代表する神社として世界中から多くの参拝者が訪れます。

Romon Gate｜楼門
The impressive Romon Gate welcomes visitors at the entrance to the shrine.
It was donated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and is one of the shrine’s most important historical buildings.
鮮やかな朱色の楼門は、
伏見稲荷大社を代表する建築物です。
豊臣秀吉によって寄進されたと伝えられ、
国の重要文化財にも指定されています。
Main Hall｜本殿
The Main Hall is the most sacred building at Fushimi Inari Taisha, where Inari Okami is enshrined.
Built in the distinctive “Inari-zukuri” architectural style, it has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
Standing behind the Outer Worship Hall, the Main Hall forms the spiritual center of the shrine.
Visitors usually pray from the front of the worship hall while facing the sacred Main Hall.
本殿は、
伏見稲荷大社で最も神聖な建物で、
稲荷大神がお祀りされています。
「稲荷造」と呼ばれる独特の建築様式で建てられ、
国の重要文化財にも指定されています。
本殿は外拝殿の奥に建ち、
伏見稲荷大社の信仰の中心となる建物です。

手前の外拝殿から本殿に向かってお参りします。

Senbon Torii｜千本鳥居
The famous Senbon Torii is one of Kyoto’s most iconic sights.
Thousands of vermilion torii gates create a magical tunnel that leads into Mt. Inari.
Many of the gates have been donated by companies and individuals over many years.
千本鳥居は、
伏見稲荷大社最大の見どころです。
無数の朱色の鳥居が連なり、
まるで別世界へ続く道のような景色が広がります。

Okusha Hohaisho｜奥社奉拝所
The Okusha Hohaisho is an important place to pray before continuing up Mt. Inari.
Many visitors stop here before visiting the famous Omo-karu Stone.
奥社奉拝所は、
お山巡りの途中にある人気の参拝スポットです。
ここから先は、
より静かな稲荷山の雰囲気を楽しめます。
Omo-karu Stone｜おもかる石
Visitors make a wish before lifting the Omo-karu Stone.
If the stone feels lighter than expected, it is said that the wish may come true.
おもかる石は、

The hiking trail continues through Mt. Inari, where hundreds of small shrines and torii gates line the mountain paths.
From Yotsutsuji, visitors can enjoy panoramic views over Kyoto.

Foxes are considered the messengers of Inari Okami.
