Jojakko-ji Temple
is a peaceful temple
on the slopes
of Mt. Ogura
in Sagano.
Surrounded by maple trees,
it is known
for its autumn colors,
historic buildings,
and views over Kyoto.
常寂光寺は、
嵯峨野の小倉山の中腹に建つ
静かな寺院です。
境内は多くのモミジに囲まれ、

History｜歴史
Jojakko-ji Temple
was founded
during the Keicho era
between 1596 and 1614.
It was established
by Nisshin,
a senior monk
of Honkoku-ji Temple.
The temple
belongs to
the Nichiren sect.
常寂光寺は、
慶長年間
（1596～1614年）に
開創されました。
開山したのは、
本圀寺の第16世であった
日禛上人です。
日蓮宗の寺院として、
現在まで大切に
受け継がれています。
Niomon Gate｜仁王門
The Niomon Gate
is one of
the temple’s
most famous landmarks.
The historic gate
was moved here
from Honkoku-ji Temple
in 1616.
Its thatched roof
blends beautifully
with the surrounding trees.

The Main Hall
was built using
a former guest hall
from Fushimi Momoyama Castle.
It stands
at the top
of the stone stairway.

伝えられています。

Tahoto Pagoda｜多宝塔
The Tahoto Pagoda
is one of
Jojakko-ji Temple’s
most iconic landmarks.
Standing on
